Finestrella di Via Piella: "little Venice"
Passing under Porta Govese or Torresotto dei Piella, one arrives at the famous little window on the Canale delle Moline and the bridge over the canal, in a corner of the city known as "little Venice".
Looking out from the gap between the palazzos, we see one of the few waterways that escaped being covered by asphalt in between the early 1900s and the post-war period: Canale delle Moline, which continues from Canale di Reno.
For much of its length, the Canale delle Moline is enclosed by houses, as one can see from the “window”, and for this reason it was kept out of sight for a long time. The views over the bridges from Via Oberdan and Via Malcontenti, which stand alongside the charming little window in Via Piella, have recently been opened up again.
